Things to Consider when you Plan for a Baby

Parenthood may come in as a surprise if it is unplanned, or it may be well planned. In either of the situations, you need to prepare yourself for it. As you are selective and knowledgeable about your decisions of career and marriage, you also need to step into the shoes of a parent at some stage of your married life.

Other things like compatibility with your partner, financial reasons and health are some of the issues that you need to take care of before stepping in to parenthood. But still, these measures are relative and should not be stretched beyond limits. Considering the age at which you are married, your threshold of career and the medical facts, you do need to plan your parenthood together.

Preparing yourself for motherhood does not mean just the physical and financial preparation. It involves the preparation for taking the entire responsibility of a new life. You should be able to balance yourself in terms of your nutrition, sleep, emotions and other aspects right from the time you are pregnant. Negligence of self or baby is not the sign of being a good parent.

If you are working, the work schedule, your job schedule after the baby arrives and the possible support are important factors. This support may be through parents, daycare or babysitters. Each one has a set of conditions for you to fulfill. Since finances play an important role in parenting, you need to plan well ahead for the present and future.

Last but not the least, it is not just the Mom, but also the Dad who needs to be prepared for parenthood. Starting with enduring sleepless nights, changing diapers, vaccinations to school admissions and so on, the list is never ending.
